At times when working with Revit we might ask: How can I assign a specific surface finish to my columns without having to edit the family or create a new one?
Well in case you need to have the same finish for the column and wall, that's an easy one. You just need to take into account that the end result will be different depending on the type of column your are using: architectural or structural. It's all explained in the following images:
ARCHITECTURAL COLUMN:

Architectural column + architectural wall |

STRUCTURAL COLUMN:

Structural column + architectural wall |

Structural column + architectural wall |
Hmmm i always find i need to create an in place model components to do the second example....so having an architectural vs. structural object and joining them really matters?!
